There’s no substitute for "Back to Black" on wax. The voice. That band. A room that's a bottle of lightning. This is a record soaked in heartbreak and swagger, with production that wraps you in velvet one minute and hits like a hammer the next. The drums sound like they were mic’d from across the street and somehow feel closer for it. The low end is slow, round, and broken-in like old jeans missing the knees. When Amy opens her mouth, the world stops.
I’m giving away a vinyl copy of "Back to Black," because it's a record that’s impossible to overplay and just keeps sounding better on a good stereo. There's basically no ceiling on how good this production can sound.
