Do You Take Sugar?

Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard is an uber obnoxious stadium rock anthem with towering guitar riffs and firing squad drums all polished to fine sheen.

Was Def Leppard's album "Hysteria" a cheesy sellout by a great rock band? Some think so. Hardcore Def Lep fans point to this record, or perhaps the previous one, as when the band lost the plot. I think they found it. With seven charting singles on the album, it's an easy argument to make. The beef is that the album's densely-layered obsessive production (thanks to Mutt Lange) sounds mechanical and over baked. It's certainly not as raw as their earlier stuff, but play this gem on a great stereo and it shines like a cheesy, corny, over-sexed sun.
